PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michel Tel� (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns comes into the arena with Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three - The Roof Is On Fire blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tel�'s choice of entrance music: Michel Telo - Ai se eu te pego. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brian Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michel Tel�!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tel�'s jab looks to have found its range, popping Burns under the eye.
Tel� misses with a right hand
and Burns counters with a right hand to the body.
Burns dips to his left and cracks Tel� with an uppercut!
Tel� lands a nice leg kick that just misses Burns's sensitive parts.
Burns lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Tel� misses with a straight left.
Burns was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Tel� lands with a slapping head kick.
Tel� uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burns.
Good standup being displayed there by Tel� as he connects with a hook.

Burns changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tel� looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burns landing a few strikes.
Burns wants to control but Tel� is keeping him busy.
We've been hearing that Burns has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Burns goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Tel� rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Burns's guard! Nice work there by Tel�!
Tel� controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burns keeping moving, preventing Tel� from controlling successfully.
Tel� tries to stand but Burns is controlling from the bottom.
Tel� throws an elbow that misses. Burns uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tel�'s guard. Nice move by Burns!

Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but Tel� is retaining full guard.
Burns stopping the sweep attempt from Tel�.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tel� seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Burns wants to control from the top but Tel� keeps moving.

Burns thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tel� is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Burns trying to control but Tel� is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Tel� goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Burns misses with a hook.
Burns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Burns throws a body shot but no joy.
Tel� misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Burns.
Tel� ducks under a wild hook from Burns.
Tel� lands with a right hand.
Tel� stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tel� wants it to stay on the feet.
Tel� takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Burns misses with an uppercut. Tel� saw that one coming.
Tel� misses with a looping right.
Burns on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Tel� misses the shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burns blocks a leg kick.
Tel� misses with a jab to the body
and Burns counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burns throws a lazy right hand but Tel� sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Burns fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tel� sprawls well initially but Burns persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tel� tries to roll over but Burns keeps him under control.

Burns maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Tel� could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Burns has cracked it and Tel� is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Burns!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brian Burns!
After winning the bout, Brian Burns thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
