PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kinho Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gil Brother (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kinho Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gil Brother !
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brother looks for a takedown but Santos sprawls well.
Santos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brother tries to clinch up but Santos circles away and keeps his distance.

Brother darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Brother seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brother throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos kicks off Brother and gets to his feet.
Brother tries to clinch but Santos moves out of range.
Brother throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Brother or perhaps it was just good defense by Santos which made him look bad.
Santos closes the distance but Brother moves to the side
and Brother counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brother scores with a shot to the body.
Santos tries for a takedown but Brother circles away easily

and Brother counters by clinching up.
Santos fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brother is stalling here.

Brother has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Santos regains guard immediately.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos pushes Brother off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Brother tries to clinch up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brother blocks a head kick by Santos.

Santos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Santos wants to sweep here but Brother controlling him for the moment.
Santos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brother controls the pace.
Let's hope that Brother has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Brother works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Brother seems content to control.
Santos is looking for a sweep. Brother is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Brother is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Brother looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Brother landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Brother content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brother frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brother sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gil Brother just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Brother to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kinho Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brother has closed the distance and engaged Santos in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gil Brother dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Brother wants to clinch.

Brother drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Brother drops back, looking for a kneebar! Santos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Santos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Santos!
Brother manages to work his way to half guard, despite Santos's best efforts.

Santos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brother defends it well.
Santos is keen to just control but Brother is a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos wants to pass to mount but Brother is defending the position.
Santos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Santos is looking to advance position but Brother won't allow it.
Brother regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Santos.
Santos wants to get up but he can't break Brother 's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brother fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santos, pushing him back against the cage.

Brother manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Santos darts in trying to clinch

and Brother counters by moving into the clinch.
Brother content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Brother gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Santos.

Brother is looking to clinch.

Santos gets caught flat footed, as Brother shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Santos wants to get back to his feet but Brother is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Santos looking for a triangle here. Brother is fighting it but it looks tight! Santos pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Brother is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Kinho Santos!
