Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arto Blomsten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Grreckon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arto Blomsten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blake Grreckon!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grreckon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blomsten.
Grreckon misses the shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Grreckon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Blomsten is looking to counter punch.
Blomsten explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Grreckon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Grreckon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blomsten.
Blomsten pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Grreckon uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Blomsten lands a leg kick that knocks Grreckon off balance momentarily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Grreckon!
Blomsten lands an overhand right.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Grreckon leaves Blomsten with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Grreckon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Blomsten seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Blomsten throws a nice outside leg kick.
Grreckon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Grreckon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Grreckon is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Blomsten rather than just go for the knockout.
Grreckon misses with a wild body shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Blomsten, as that shot connected.
Grreckon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blomsten moves away.
Blomsten quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Blomsten takes a swing at Grreckon's ribcage but misses.
Blake Grreckon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blomsten avoids the body shot from Grreckon.
Blomsten sizes up Grreckon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Grreckon scores with a one two! Blomsten had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Blomsten moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Blomsten throws a front kick that sends Grreckon stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A jab from Blomsten finds it's way through Grreckon's defenses.

Grreckon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blomsten was well out of range. Poor timing from Grreckon.

Blomsten half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Grreckon takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Grreckon has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Blomsten.
Blomsten lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Grreckon on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Grreckon misses the shot to the body.
Grreckon misses with a right hand

and Blomsten counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Blomsten with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Blomsten moves nicely into side control.

Blomsten tries for a kimura but Grreckon is defending well.

Blomsten tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Blomsten taking a breather here.
Blomsten tries to advance to mount but can't.
Blomsten is working hard here to advance position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grreckon can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blomsten looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blomsten has hold of Grreckon's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Grreckon seems comfortable defending it but Blomsten has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Grreckon is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Grreckon is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Blomsten couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Arto Blomsten!
A relieved looking Arto Blomsten thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
