Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Merel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Klas Horn! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merel throws the left hand but Horn avoids the punch easily. Merel takes a swing at Horn's ribcage but misses. Horn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Merel. Merel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Horn moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Merel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Horn sees it coming and avoids it easily. Merel missing with a left hand there. Horn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A bone on bone clash there as Horn blocks the leg kick.
Merel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Merel throws a jab when Horn was well out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Merel throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Horn has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Merel tries a low kick but Horn avoids it. Horn tries to counter with a clinch but Merel shakes him off and moves away. Merel misses with a double jab.
Horn is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Horn uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Merel has time to react. A jab from Merel finds it's way through Horn's defenses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horn takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Jay Merel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Merel pivots, looking for a leg kick but Horn is out of range and Merel settles back down. Horn tries to counter with a clinch but Merel shakes him off and moves away. Merel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Horn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Merel is rocked!
It looks like Jay Merel has been cut. Horn throws a pinpoint strike between Merel's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Merel crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Horn scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Klas Horn!
