Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janowski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cheney avoids it really well and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cheney.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Janowski is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Cheney working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Janowski is looking to regain half guard here but Cheney keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cheney is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Janowski defends it well.
Janowski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Janowski.
Cheney wants to pass the guard but Janowski is keeping the position.

Cheney drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cheney jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Our spies down at at Soul Supremacy Rio inform us that Janowski has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Janowski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cheney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cheney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Janowski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Janowski looking for subs off his back but Cheney has passed one foot through into half guard.
Janowski tries to kick Cheney off but Cheney keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cheney is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Janowski tries to roll over but Cheney keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dick Cheney dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cheney closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cheney tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cheney has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dick Cheney overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cheney is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Janowski has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cheney is looking to defend but Janowski has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cheney! Janowski pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cheney taps out and this one is all over!
