Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genaro Burke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vhin Yama! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yama tries for a takedown but Burke circles away easily and Burke counters by clinching up. Yama is trying to break the clinch but Burke has him pressed against the cage. Burke taking a breather. Yama fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Burke has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Yama clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Yama wants to control his opponent's hands but Burke gets his hands free. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Yama trying to control the action but Burke just sinks the hooks in.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burke slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Yama just trying to survive but Burke is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Yama tries to roll but Burke sticks to his back.
Burke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yama on the ground. Burke not allowing Yama to control his hands. A bit of a pause in the action here. Burke controlling the positon. Burke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Yama is trying to break free.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Yama showing good submission defense here.
Yama is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Yama trying to control but not successfully. Yama can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Yama trying to control but not successfully. Genaro Burke dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Yama throws a left and a right that both miss
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Yama doesn't succeed with the takedown and Burke counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Burke. Yama is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Burke to keep the fight standing. Yama prevents the takedown attempt.
Yama has picked Burke up - he's going for a ride! Yama dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Burke is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burke is trying to control but can't.
Burke tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Burke lands with a few short shots to the body.

Yama seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Burke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Burke is trying to control but Yama manages to pass to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burke wants to hold on but Yama pushes him away. Yama looking to control but Burke is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Burke tries to improve his position but instead Yama has taken his back! Yama has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Burke! Can he survive? No! He's out! Yama gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
