Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronnie Ball! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, JM Shock! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Shock lands with a light punch inside. Ball successfully pulls guard.
Ball is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shock defends well. Ball is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ball bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shock's guard.
Shock is looking for a triangle but Ball pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ball won't allow Shock to sweep him here. Shock is trying to keep Ball in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ball distracts Shock with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Shock looking to control.
Ball cracks Shock with a solid left hand. Shock being controlled here, momentarily. Shock is trying to keep Ball in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ball working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shock wants to hit a switch here but Ball passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shock there! Ball has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ball landing shots from mount. Ball scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Ball has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shock's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shock defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ball. Shock is looking to get to half guard. Ball dominating with strikes here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Shock is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shock is working to get back to half guard.
The referee warns Shock that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ball prevents Shock from getting the reversal. Ball is landing with some decent strikes but Shock is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Shock in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Ball moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Shock has worked his arm free - good work by Shock!
Ball decides to take the fight back to the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ball misses with a hook. Shock goes for a high kick. It partially lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronnie Ball dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ball dips to his left and cracks Shock with an uppercut! Ball really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shock lands a jab-cross combination. Shock tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ball swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ball is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Shock. Ball clinches up against the cage. Ball pulls guard successfully.
Shock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ball is keeping the position for now. Shock preventing the sweep. Shock avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shock in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ball keeping moving, preventing Shock from controlling successfully. Shock is sitting in close to Ball's body. Ball has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Shock is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Shock is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ball.
