Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger Rabago! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Durham! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rabago misses with the combination.
Rabago throws a looping overhand right but Durham ducks down to avoid it. Durham tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A jab from Rabago misses. Durham blocks a jab. Durham drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Rabago defends it well. Durham closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rabago wants to get back to his feet. Rabago won't allow Durham to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rabago is defending against the submission attempts here by Durham.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Durham throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Durham is working for a kimura but Rabago is defending it quite comfortably.
Rabago on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rabago tries to get out of the position.

Durham is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Durham is looking for a kimura but Rabago is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Durham to get the leverage.

Rabago wants to get back to his feet. Durham throwing shots but Rabago is blocking nicely. Durham in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rabago tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Durham!
