Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Freddie Glass! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Meow Monk! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Hugh Johnson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Glass decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Monk actively working from the bottom here. Glass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Glass thows a huge punch but Monk dodges it nicely.

Glass is taking a breather. Monk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Monk is staying active underneath Glass, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monk tries to roll over but Glass keeps him under control. Monk is pressing down on Glass's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Glass wanted to stand there but Monk had control of the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Glass fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Glass blocks the body kick.
Monk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Monk seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Glass preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monk decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Monk fails with an attempt to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Glass. Monk doesn't manage to clinch there - Glass circles away.
Sloppy strikes from Monk. Those never looked like landing. A combination from Monk does no damage. Glass drops down looking for a counter takedown but Monk sprawls and moves away. Monk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Monk wants to get up but he can't break Glass's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Monk postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monk loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Glass is working an open guard so Monk takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Monk finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Glass is looking to counter with head kicks. A clash of legs there as Monk blocks the low kick. Monk throws a left and a right that both miss
and Glass moves into the clinch. Monk manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Monk pulls Glass in close to his closed guard and prevents Glass from doing any damage or advancing position. Glass is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Glass wants to stand but Monk is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Meow Monk dominated that round. That's time! Glass's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Glass tries to counter with a takedown but Monk is quick to defend against it. Monk darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Glass trying to control but Monk postures up.
Monk is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Glass has managed to free his arm - good work. Monk is keen to just control but Glass is a slippery customer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Glass blocking the ground and pound attempt from Monk. Monk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk trying to control from half guard but Glass is working away. Glass moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Glass not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Glass darts in looking for a takedown but Monk gets double underhooks and turns Glass into the cage. Monk drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Glass defends it well. Monk scores with a jab to the body. Monk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Monk lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Glass preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Monk preventing the sweep. Glass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Glass is trying to keep Monk in close.
Glass seems keen to control Monk's posture. Monk's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Monk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Glass sprawls well initially but Monk persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Monk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Glass is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Monk is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Glass is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk trying to mount his opponent but Glass defends it. Monk is nestled in close to Glass, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Monk trying to mount his opponent but Glass defends it. Monk controlling the pace. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Glass is in trouble now - Monk has advanced to mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Meow Monk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Monk wants to pass the guard but Glass is keeping the position. Monk trying to stand up but can't free himself from Glass's guard. Glass is trying to keep Monk in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Monk in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Monk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Glass works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Monk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Monk scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Glass trying to control from the bottom.
Glass is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Monk's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Monk's back! Glass has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Monk has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Glass working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Glass tightening his grip on Monk, looking for the choke. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Monk trying to control the hands but Glass won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Glass controls the position. Monk has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Monk trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Freddie Glass. I think Monk has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
