PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sidney Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bregje Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bregje Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garcia napping and manages to drive through into side control!

It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Garcia's guard.
Garcia throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Garcia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Garcia seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Garcia has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
