Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hang Kwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hang Kwon was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
35 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hughs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hang Kwon! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughs avoids the head kick by Kwon.
Hughs fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kwon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. A nice inside leg kick there by Kwon. That's going to slow Hughs down. Kwon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kwon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hughs is landing a low percentage of strikes. Kwon throws a head kick but Hughs moves out of range.

Kwon plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Kwon throws a sloppy head kick and Hughs moves out of range easily. Hughs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kwon throws a sloppy head kick and Hughs counters with a nice kick to the body. Kwon tries a head kick but it misses.
Hughs throws a big counter combination but Kwon scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Hughs takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
This has been an exciting period of action! Kwon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kwon misses with a body kick. Hang Kwon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hughs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hughs lands a lovely overhand right. Kwon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hang Kwon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hughs blocks the body kick.
Hughs moves out of range as Kwon throws a body kick.
Kwon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kwon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hughs will feel that in the morning. Kwon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughs seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Hughs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kwon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kwon. Hughs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kwon throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hughs won't allow Kwon to sweep him here. Kwon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hughs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hughs manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kwon wants to sweep here but Hughs controlling him for the moment. Hughs lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hughs postures up in Kwon's guard and throws a big left but Kwon blocks it. Hughs keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kwon's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kwon throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hughs escapes and throws Kwon's legs to the side, diving into side control! Hughs working the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kwon is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Hughs working the ground and pound from side control. A big shot lands for Hughs! That's hurt Kwon! Will he recover? Hughs fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Hughs!
