Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michal Sobota! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stoney Stoner! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stoner. Sobota pushes Stoner up against the cage in a clinch. Stoner stalling in the clinch but Sobota improves position. Stoner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sobota works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Stoner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Sobota trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Stoner keeping moving, preventing Sobota from controlling successfully. Sobota knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stoner on the ground. Stoner is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobota postures up in Stoner's guard and throws a big left but Stoner blocks it. Sobota decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stoner, up you get! Stoner doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sobota holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Stoner wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stoner is trying to break the clinch but Sobota is controlling him. Stoner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sobota is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Michal Sobota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stoney Stoner. Sobota lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Our sources have told us that Sobota has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Sobota keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stoner's efforts to push away. Sobota has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stoner regains guard immediately. Stoner looking for a guillotine here but Sobota defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sobota being controlled here momentarily. Sobota sitting in guard, not really doing much. Stoner wants to get back to his feet but Sobota is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stoner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sobota is breathing heavily. Sobota wants to improve his position but Stoner is controlling well.
Stoner is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sobota is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
