Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dana Richard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emmanuel Jung! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jung lands a nice shot that snaps Richard's head back.
Richard fails with a takedown attempt. Jung unleashes a big counter combination but Richard bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. A punch combination from Jung misses. Jung throws a combination that misses and Richard counters with a takedown into side control. Jung is trying to control Richard's posture but Richard avoids it. Richard creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Jung is trying to improve his position. Richard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Richard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Jung is trying to get back to half guard. Richard tries for a kimura but Jung is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Richard working the ground and pound from side control. Richard creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Richard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Richard prevents Jung from escaping the position. Jung tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Richard presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richard thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Jung really wants to buck Richard off and get back to his feet. Jung looks winded! Richard working for a submission but Jung is keeping him at bay. Jung really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jung blocking the ground and pound. Jung throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Richard misses with a head shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richard jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jung is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jung and Richard has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Richard tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Richard is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Jung looks calm but he's in trouble here. Richard gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Jung is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Richard lets go of the hold and Jung can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dana Richard!
