PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Byhenikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelvin Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Igor Byhenikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kelvin Tatum!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byhenikov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Tatum looks for the body kick but Byhenikov saw that one coming.
Byhenikov is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Tatum.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tatum has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Byhenikov looks to throw the jab but Tatum is out of range.
Byhenikov moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromTatum.
Byhenikov avoids the head kick by Tatum.
Tatum throws a push kick but Byhenikov slaps the foot to one side.
Tatum throws a solid leg kick but Byhenikov takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Tatum.
As Tatum tries to get set, Byhenikov tries to push him back and clinch up but Tatum manages to avoid the attempt.

Tatum shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Tatum is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Byhenikov defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tatum passes to full mount!

Tatum has control of Byhenikov's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Byhenikov regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tatum looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Tatum wants to control the pace but Byhenikov is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Byhenikov's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The referee warns Byhenikov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


It looks like Igor Byhenikov has been cut.
Tatum throwing strikes here but Byhenikov is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Tatum is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Byhenikov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Byhenikov!

Tatum escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Byhenikov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tatum has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tatum lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Tatum working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Tatum wants to control from the top but Byhenikov keeps moving.
Tatum lands a couple of digs.

Byhenikov wants to stand and escape but Tatum is having none of it.

Tatum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tatum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tatum throws a big right hand that misses.
Byhenikov wants to stand and escape but Tatum is having none of it.
Tatum throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Byhenikov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tatum won't allow Byhenikov to get back to his feet.
Byhenikov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Byhenikov tries to get out of the position.
Byhenikov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Tatum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tatum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tatum is pushing down on Byhenikov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Byhenikov is fighting to maintain full guard but Tatum has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tatum is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Byhenikov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tatum.

Tatum is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Byhenikov defends it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Byhenikov pushes Tatum off looking to stand but Tatum dives back in and keeps control.

Tatum is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Byhenikov is just riding it out for now. Tatum eventually gives up the hold.
Tatum slips a nice elbow through Byhenikov's hands, connecting with Byhenikov's forehead.


Jeez, Igor Byhenikov's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Igor Byhenikov's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kelvin Tatum!
Kelvin Tatum decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
