PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Bobandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Bobandy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sergio Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Bobandy!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bobandy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Solis, pushing him back against the cage.
Solis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bobandy.
A head punch on the inside from Solis fails to land.
Solis gets underhooks to prevent Bobandy's takedown attempt.
Bobandy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Solis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sergio Solis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Bobandy.

Bobandy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Solis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bobandy has Solis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bobandy pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Solis tumbling to the mat - Bobandy dives into Solis's guard.

Solis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bobandy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bobandy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bobandy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Solis has escaped the position, nice work there.
Solis can't do much from the bottom here.
Bobandy creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Solis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Solis is trying to control Bobandy's posture but Bobandy avoids it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bobandy gets caught napping as Solis dives in and scores a takedown. Bobandy manages to retain guard.
Solis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bobandy is trying to control the position but Solis postures up.

Solis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Solis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bobandy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Solis to the mat. Solis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well Solis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
