Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
29 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Mageramsky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rez Cortez! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mageramsky avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mageramsky appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Cortez punishes Mageramsky's body with a nice straight punch. Mageramsky takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Cortez has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Mageramsky is landing a low percentage of strikes. Cortez misses with a two punch combination.
Cortez misses with a series of wild punches.
Cortez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mageramsky moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mageramsky scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. An elbow from Mageramsky crashes against the mat.
Mageramsky misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Mageramsky throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cortez defending against the ground and pound. The strikes coming from Mageramsky are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Mageramsky throwing strikes but Cortez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Cortez taking a break here but Mageramsky is having none of it and regains half guard. Cortez controlling the action here.

Mageramsky is trying to get back to full guard. Mageramsky is staying active underneath Cortez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Well, if Cortez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mageramsky is looking to control Cortez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mageramsky avoid being mounted? Cortez is pressing down on Mageramsky's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mageramsky is holding on for now. Mageramsky is not content to let Cortez control the position. Mageramsky is looking for a sweep. Cortez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mageramsky regains full guard. Nicely done. Mageramsky wants to sweep but no luck. Mageramsky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cortez controls from within his opponent's guard. Cortez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mageramsky's guard. Mageramsky is staying active underneath Cortez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mageramsky makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mageramsky. Cortez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mageramsky looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mageramsky tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cortez wants to control from the top but Mageramsky keeps moving. Mageramsky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mageramsky keeping moving, preventing Cortez from controlling successfully. Mageramsky wants to sweep here but Cortez controlling him for the moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Mageramsky is adopting a defensive guard. Cortez trying to control but Mageramsky is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rez Cortez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mageramsky is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cortez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cortez lands a head shot.
It looks like Joseph Mageramsky has been cut. Cortez swinging wildly here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mageramsky lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Rez Cortez has been cut. A big right from Mageramsky misses. Cortez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mageramsky momentarily.
Sloppy strikes from Cortez. Those never looked like landing. Cortez misses with a body shot.
Cortez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Cortez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cortez moves out of range as Mageramsky strikes. Cortez ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Mageramsky is breathing heavily. Mageramsky lands with an uppercut that bounces Cortez off the cage and back into range. Cortez drops Mageramsky with a beautiful combination! Mageramsky stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Cortez is looking for the KO!
Mageramsky is rocked! The fighters circling - Cortez throws out the jab but it was never going to land. It looked like Mageramsky wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Cortez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Cortez misses with a few strikes there.
Cortez lands a big right hand that sends Mageramsky crashing to the mat! Cortez stays standing though and waves Mageramsky back to his feet! Oh Mageramsky is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Cortez scores with a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rez Cortez dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mageramsky seems to have got his legs back now. Cortez throws a shot to the body.
A lazy left from Cortez finds it's target. Cortez lands a right hook to the body.
Cortez lands a left and a right that send Mageramsky crashing to the mat, dazed. Cortez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mageramsky is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cortez fakes the body blow, causing Mageramsky to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Mageramsky goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
