PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pale Monster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Domino Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monster comes to the cage accompanied by Therapy . Domino Kennedy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Pale Monster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Domino Kennedy! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monster closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Kennedy felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Kennedy is trying to control Monster's posture but Monster avoids it. Monster in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Monster controlling the position from side mount. Kennedy wants to control but Monster postures up. Monster thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Monster wants to control but Kennedy is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kennedy dodges the ground and pound from Monster. Monster just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monster is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kennedy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kennedy is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Monster working the ground and pound. Monster looking to control but instead Kennedy has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Kennedy is looking to escape. Kennedy is looking to control Monster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kennedy avoid being mounted? Kennedy wants to get back to full guard but Monster has passed into side control. Kennedy is looking to reverse the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monster swings around for an armbar but Kennedy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Monster's guard. Monster had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kennedy defends it easily. Monster is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kennedy rolls with it to try and escape but Monster cranks on the arm and Kennedy is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pale Monster! After winning the bout, Pale Monster thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. In defeat, Domino Kennedy stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'll be back, and I'll get better. Thanks for coming and watching me fight tonight, everybody!'.
