The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Tate with that takedown attempt.
Zalac went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Tate tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Zalac defends well and Tate ends up having to push Zalac into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Zalac misses with a two punch combination.
Tate closes the distance and clinches up with Zalac, looking for a takedown. Tate pushes Zalac against the cage but Zalac circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Zalac is looking to regain half guard here but Tate keeps moving and retains side control.
Tate is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zalac knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Zalac postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tate is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zalac, into his guard.

Oscar Tate is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tate stays in close to Zalac's body and controls the position.
