Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Chaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaiah Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Chaney is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Isaiah Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaney throws a body punch but Ferguson moves out of range.
Ferguson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chaney tries to avoid it but Ferguson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chaney to the ground. Chaney escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chaney drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ferguson sprawls and moves away.
Chaney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice uppercut lands for Chaney. That snapped Ferguson's head back.

Ferguson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Chaney's guard.

Ferguson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chaney is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chaney has escaped and now he's on top!

Ferguson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chaney looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ferguson swings around for an armbar but Chaney sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ferguson's guard.
Ferguson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chaney controls the pace.

Chaney has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chaney passes Ferguson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Chaney will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Chaney fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ferguson sprawls well initially but Chaney persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Chaney is trying to control. Ferguson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Chaney wants to work for an arm triangle but Ferguson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chaney accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Chaney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ferguson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ferguson misses with a takedown attempt - Chaney sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chaney throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ferguson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chaney pinned against the cage. Chaney gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Chaney closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ferguson won't allow Chaney to pass to mount.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ferguson enables Chaney to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ferguson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ferguson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chaney defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chaney is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chaney postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Chaney ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ferguson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Chaney counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Chaney moves in looking to clinch but Ferguson pushes him off.
Ferguson closes the distance and clinches up with Chaney, looking for a takedown. Ferguson pushes Chaney against the cage but Chaney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James Chaney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isaiah Ferguson.

Chaney feints and as Ferguson raises his hands in defense, Chaney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ferguson is trying to stick to Chaney's back but Chaney is turning into Ferguson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ferguson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Chaney.

James Chaney is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Chaney decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ferguson, up you get!

James Chaney showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Chaney has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
