Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Myoto Lachida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ain't No Sunshine. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Myoto Lachida!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lachida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It looked like Steel wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Steel swinging wildly here.
Steel looks to land a left hand but Lachida moved out of range nicely.
Lachida fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Steel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alex Steel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Myoto Lachida.

Lachida has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Lachida fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Steel throws a hook but Lachida avoids it easily.
Lachida changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
The fighters circling - Steel throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lachida throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Steel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lachida is in Steel's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Steel is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lachida is trying to drag Steel to the mat but Steel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lachida goes for a takedown in the clinch but Steel prevents it.

Steel scores with a nice hook to the head.
Steel throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lachidas head.
Steel lands a right hand.
Steel lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A short uppercut from Steel.

Steel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Steel rushes Lachida and presses him up against the cage.
Steel lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Myoto Lachida has been cut.
Steel lands an elbow just above Lachida 's eye.

Steel breaks from the clinch.

Lachida throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Steel was covering up waiting for the punch and Lachida finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Steel wriggles free and stands up.
Steel misses with a looping left.
Lachida goes for a double leg but Steel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Steel continues to drive forward.

Steel looks to land a left hand but Lachida moved out of range nicely.
Steel misses with an uppercut. Lachida saw that one coming.
Steel scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Lachida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Steel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Steel regains half guard, as Lachida was trying to land strikes.
Steel is holding on to half guard well.
Steel trying to hold on to Lachida's head to control him but Lachida postures up.
Lachida throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Steel wants to improve his position but Lachida is controlling well.
Steel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Lachida is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steel throws a push kick but Lachida slaps the foot to one side.
Steel throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Steel is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lachida's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Lachida ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lachida with the counter takedown but Steel avoids it easily.

Lachida shoots in for a double leg but Steel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lachida feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steel is looking to stand up but Lachida isn't so interested in that idea.

Steel has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Lachida is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Lachida has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Steel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Steel lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Steel lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lachida backwards.

Lachida is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Steel is defending well.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Steel here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

And Lachida tries to counter it with a takedown but Steel pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Lachida shoots in looking for a takedown. Steel tries to sprawl out of it but Lachida keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Steel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Steel ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sloppy strikes from Steel. Those never looked like landing.
Steel jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lachida shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steel as he jumps to the side.
A looping hook to the body misses from Steel. Lachida does a little dance to reset his feet.

Lachida gets tackled into the cage by Steel. Steel maintains the clinch.
Lachida has Steel pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Steel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Lachida is working for takedown but Steel is calmly controlling the position for now.
Our sources have told us that Steel has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Steel is leaning against Lachida and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
A shot in the inside from Steel.
Steel lands a body punch in the clinch.
Steel unloads a knee to the mid-section. Lachida lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Steel lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Lachida.
Steel lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Steel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Steel lands a nice shot to the body.
Alex Steel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lachida ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steel swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Steel lands an elbow that stopped Lachida in his tracks for a moment.


That has opened up Myoto Lachida's cut even more.
Lachida tries for a takedown but Steel manages to get underhooks.

Steel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Steel throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Lachida crashing down! Lachida tries to stagger back to his feet but Steel just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Lachida asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Steel!
Alex Steel bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
