PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kip Aragus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakob Silfversberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aragus comes to the cage accompanied by Kill of the Night - Gin Wigmore. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kip Aragus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jakob Silfversberg!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aragus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Silfversberg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Aragus jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Aragus closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silfversberg did well to prevent Aragus getting side control.

Aragus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Silfversberg slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Aragus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silfversberg manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Aragus has Silfversberg in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aragus avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Silfversberg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Aragus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silfversberg is trying to defend but Aragus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Aragus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silfversberg sprawls well initially but Aragus persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kip Aragus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Silfversberg is looking for a triangle but Aragus pushes his legs off easily.
Aragus stands and throws Silfversberg's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Aragus is looking to pass into half guard but Silfversberg pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Silfversberg is in guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kip Aragus will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Silfversberg looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Aragus is defending well. Silfversberg quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Aragus has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Silfversberg celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jakob Silfversberg!
After the fight, Jakob Silfversberg was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
