Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tappy Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Adam Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tappy Gilmore! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilmore looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Evans drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gilmore sprawls and moves away. Gilmore throws a sloppy body shot
and Gilmore takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gilmore throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so Evans counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Evans lands a couple of digs. Gilmore pulls Evans in close to prevent any damage. Gilmore has his foot on Evans's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Evans works his way back into a safe position though. Gilmore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Evans manages to get himself to full guard.
Gilmore tries to free his leg and advance position but Evans is retaining full guard. Evans looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gilmore is fighting to break Evans's control of his arms but Evans is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Gilmore slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gilmore throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Gilmore wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving. Gilmore passes easily into side control. Nice work. Gilmore looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. You can see the frustration on Evans's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gilmore working the ground and pound but Evans is defending the strikes. Evans manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Evans prevents Gilmore from improving his position. Gilmore gets back to full guard.
Gilmore had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Evans defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilmore is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Evans working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans looking to sit in guard and control but Gilmore gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gilmore trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom. Gilmore is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Gilmore slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilmore goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Evans has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gilmore but great work by Evans. Evans working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gilmore takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Gilmore gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gilmore manages to get to full guard.
Evans working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tappy Gilmore will probably get the nod. That's time! Evans's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Gilmore looks to land a body kick but Evans moved away. Horrible takedown attempt by Evans or perhaps it was just good defense by Gilmore, which made it look bad. Evans tries for a takedown but Gilmore sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Adam Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gilmore closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Evans's guard. Evans is trying to control the position but Gilmore postures up. Gilmore trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom. Evans keeping full guard, as Gilmore tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evans not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilmore thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gilmore wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Gilmore wants to pass the guard but Evans is keeping the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Evans showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gilmore.
Tappy Gilmore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gilmore throws a sloppy head kick enabling Evans to counter with a crisp jab. Evans tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gilmore defends well and Evans ends up having to push Gilmore into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Gilmore's coach down at Kombat MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gilmore's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gilmore fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gilmore misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilmore misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Evans shoots in for a double leg but Gilmore sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gilmore throws a low kick, looking for Evans's leg but Evans calmly moves out of range. Evans shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gilmore but Gilmore pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've been told by Evans's head coaches at Hilo Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Gilmore misses with a left hand and Evans counters with a stiff right hand. Gilmore throws the kick towards the body but Evans avoids it. Gilmore misses with an attempted mid kick.
Evans changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Evans shoots in but Gilmore avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gilmore throws a sloppy head kick and Evans moves out of range easily. Tappy Gilmore seems to be getting the better of the standup. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gilmore fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Evans to the ground. Gilmore is now in Evans's guard. Evans is pulling down on Gilmore's head to control his posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilmore engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Tappy Gilmore has got the better of the ground game so far. Evans is trying to keep Gilmore in close.
Gilmore passes into half guard. Gilmore is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gilmore is still trying to improve position. Gilmore is working for a kimura but Evans is defending it quite comfortably.

Tappy Gilmore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilmore passes the guard and advances to mount! Evans reaches up to try and control the position but Gilmore seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Evans rolls and tries to escape and now Gilmore has his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gilmore looking for the choke but no joy. Gilmore looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Evans taps!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tappy Gilmore!
