Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Lord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Gower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Lord! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Gower! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Lord. It looked like Lord was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. A big right from Lord misses. Lord throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lord fails to land with a series of punches.
Gower missing with a left hand there. Lord was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A little feinted left hand from Lord on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. A slow jab from Lord misses its intended target. Lord uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gower. Lord looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gower is fending him off so far but Lord persists. Nope, Gower circles away and we're back to standing. Gower moves into range and connects with a jab. Gower misses with a right hand and Lord counters with a stiff right hand. Gower throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Lord fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gower manages to avoid it. Gower has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Gower takes one to the side of the head.
Nice defenses there by Gower. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gower misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lord.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lord takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Gower lands a nice hook to Lord's body. Lord takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Gower throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gower stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gower wants it to stay on the feet. Lord throws a right and a left that Gower avoids nicely. Lord misses the jab. Gower throws the left hand but Lord avoids the punch easily. Lord throws out a loose jab but Gower uses good head movement to avoid it. Gower misses the jab. Gower connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Gower cracks Lord with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. A looping hook to the body misses from Lord. Gower does a little dance to reset his feet. Gower stuns Lord with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Jeff Gower is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lord throws a right and a left that both miss. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lord slips a straight right by Gower.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gower fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Gower avoids the body shot from Lord.
Lord swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gower lands with a good body shot. Lord is breathing heavily. A shot to the liver by Gower. Beautiful body shot. Lord throws a right and a left that Gower avoids nicely. Gower swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Lord to counter with a crisp jab. Lord moves out of range as Gower strikes. A telegraphed right hand from Gower misses the target. Lord throws the left hand but Gower avoids the punch easily. Gower throws a body punch but Lord moves out of range. Gower looks to throw the jab but Lord is out of range. Lord misses with a two punch combination.
Gower lands with a shot to the body. Gower bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lord's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lord fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gower manages to avoid it. Lord just misses with a punch to the body.
Lord takes a shot right to the bread basket. Gower stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gower wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lord. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gower showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lord.
Gower misses the jab. Gower digs a good body shot into Lord's ribs. Gower lands a nice shot to the body.
Gower throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lord stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Gower missing with a left hand there. Lord was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Lord tries to keep at a distance but Gower has taken the fight into the clinch. Lord blocks an uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gower lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Gower digs a right hand underneath Lord's ribcage. Lord let out a lung full of air as it connected. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gower can't find room to land a body shot as Lord controls the action.
Still in the clinch, Gower scores with a nice short uppercut. Gower misses with some punches.

Gower lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lord backwards. Lord blocks a body shot from Gower. Gower tries a body shot but Lord blocks it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Gower lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lord backwards. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Gower dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lord swings for the body but Gower moves out of range.
Lord fails with a takedown attempt. Gower gets a clinch. Gower misses with a short punch on the inside. A short left from Gower. Gower tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gower misses with a punch on the inside.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Gower has a couple of punches blocked by Lord.
Gower keeps control of Lord as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. I was talking to Lord's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Lord looking to slow down the pace here. Gower softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Gower effectively controlling the action here. Gower working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Lord blocks a body shot from Gower. Lord is looking to control Gower's arms but Gower gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lord has his back to the cage. Gower presses Lord against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Gower tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Lord blocks a body shot from Gower.

Gower throws a big uppercut that drops Lord! More strikes from Gower and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Lord lies dazed against the cage as Gower celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeff Gower! Jeff Gower is the new featherweight champion! An intense looking Jeff Gower took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Gon' boy cry. Maybe god didnt listen to your prayers. Maybe hes embarrassed by your performance. Now im the champ. I better get that justin beiber money. I aint fightin' for this monopoly money anymore.'. John Lord spoke after the fight, saying 'With God's guidance, I will come back stronger and better. May the Lord be with you all.'.
