Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Grace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Karelin misses.
Karelin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Grace attempts a counter takedown but Karelin avoids it well and moves away.
Karelin swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Karelin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Grace attempts a counter takedown but Karelin avoids it well and moves away.
Karelin looks to land a body kick but Grace moved away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Karelin is trying to force a seperation but Grace has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Karelin breaks the clinch.
Aleksandr Karelin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Karelin. Those never looked like landing.
Grace tries to counter with a takedown but Karelin is quick to defend against it.
Grace keeps the fight on the outside.
Karelin lands a two punch combo.

Karelin throws a right hand that Grace ducks under and follows up with a left that Grace also avoids with ease.
Grace attempts a counter takedown but Karelin avoids it well and moves away.
Karelin looks to land a combination but Grace avoids it well.
Karelin tries to bum rush Grace with a series of wild strikes but Grace uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Karelin leaves Grace with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Karelin misses with a double jab.
Karelin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Karelin tries to clinch up.
Grace attempts a counter takedown but Karelin avoids it well and moves away.

Karelin pushes Grace up against the ropes in a clinch.
Grace keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Karelin's efforts to push away.
Grace is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Karelin is defending well.

Karelin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Karelin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Karelin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Karelin tries to close the distance and clinch but Grace swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Karelin throws a right and a left that Grace avoids nicely.
Karelin throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Grace decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Karelin's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grace postures up.
Grace might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karelin wants to stand and escape but Grace is having none of it.

Grace is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Karelin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Grace throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Karelin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Grace drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Karelin dives on top into guard.

Grace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Grace is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Karelin has his hands clasped together but Grace extends and breaks Karelin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Grace.
