Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vern Booker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Johnson! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Booker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Booker. Booker instigates a clinch. Johnson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Booker prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Booker. Johnson appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Booker gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch. Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Booker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Johnson just stands there and leans against the cage. Johnson throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Booker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Booker's legs - danger averted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Booker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Booker has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though. Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Booker has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Johnson pulls Booker in to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vern Booker dominated that round. That's time! Booker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt and Johnson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Booker tried to counter with a leg kick but Johnson avoided it. Nice body punch from Johnson. Johnson clinches. Booker successfully pulls guard.

Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Booker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Booker throws a body kick that misses and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand. Jab by Johnson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Booker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Johnson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Johnson clinches with his opponent.

Johnson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Johnson is breathing heavily.
