PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raijin Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thor Berserk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kage comes to the cage accompanied by Ride the Lightning. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Raijin Kage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor Berserk!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Berserk as he connects with a hook.
Kage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kage gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kage takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Kage takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kage shoots in for a takedown but Berserk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Berserk lands a lovely overhand right.
Kage tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Berserk throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Decent striking displayed by Berserk there.
Berserk leaves Kage with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raijin Kage. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kage throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Berserk appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Kage has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kage throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Berserk counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Berserk.
Kage misses with a punch on the inside.

Kage jumps guard and drags Berserk to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Berserk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Berserk wants to control from the top but Kage keeps moving.

Kage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Berserk wants to pass the guard but Kage is keeping the position.
Kage keeping moving, preventing Berserk from controlling successfully.
Berserk controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Berserk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kage is keeping the position for now.
Kage working a defensive guard but Berserk passes into half guard.

Berserk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kage makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kage.

Berserk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Berserk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kage tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kage keeping full guard, as Berserk tries to pass.
Kage can't keep his opponent in guard - Berserk advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kage wants to control but Berserk is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kage wants to get back to full guard.
Kage trying to get back to full guard but Berserk takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Kage is looking to improve his position but Berserk isn't that keen on the idea.
Berserk blocks Kage's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Berserk tries to control but Kage wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Berserk content just to control the position here.
Berserk with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kage slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Kage actively working from the bottom here.
Berserk has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Gutz Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Kage has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Berserk is working away from the top position though.
Berserk uses his free foot to push down on Kage's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kage.
Berserk pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Berserk trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Berserk wants to finish this one by submission but Kage is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Berserk.
Kage wants to hold on but Berserk pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thor Berserk dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kage tries to clinch
and Berserk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Berserk. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Kage wants to clinch up but Berserk keeps it at a distance.
Berserk looks for the body kick but Kage saw that one coming.

Kage gets a clinch.

Kage has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Berserk clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
I really don't envy Berserk right now.
Thor Berserk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kage lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Berserk hold on?!
Kage scores with punches and elbows.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kage is working the ground and pound. Can Berserk escape?
A lull in the action here.
Kage scores with punches to the body.
Kage lands strikes from the back and Berserk isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raijin Kage!
Raijin Kage decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
The defeated Thor Berserk had this to say: 'I am better then this.'.
