Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spurt Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Leduc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Leduc's choice of entrance music: Trivium-Through Blood And Dirt And Bone. Joe Leduc is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spurt Reynolds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Leduc! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leduc throws a half hearted mid kick. Reynolds is looking to counter the offense by Leduc and move into the clinch. Nice straight punches there by Reynolds. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Reynolds. Leduc misses with a looping left. The crowd cheers as Reynolds lands an impressive looking overhand right. Leduc doesn't seem phased though. Leduc moves out of range as Reynolds strikes. Leduc feints the counter takedown. Reynolds moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Reynolds uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Leduc has time to react. Reynolds swings for the body but Leduc moves out of range.
Leduc tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Reynolds lands a jab to Leduc's midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leduc gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Reynolds won't allow Leduc to sweep him here. Leduc is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Leduc working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds is working Leduc over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Leduc is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Leduc is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Reynolds postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Reynolds trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Reynolds throws a big right hand that misses. Reynolds postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Leduc bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reynolds's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reynolds wants to sweep but no luck. Reynolds seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Reynolds has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Leduc controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Reynolds trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Reynolds preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Leduc content to stall in guard here. Leduc stands up over Reynolds, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leduc seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Leduc missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leduc not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Leduc throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Reynolds tries to clinch up but Leduc circles away and keeps his distance. Leduc looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Leduc shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Reynolds half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. No luck for Reynolds with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spurt Reynolds. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leduc throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Leduc keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Reynolds misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Leduc.
Leduc is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Leduc tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Reynolds is able to avoid easily. Leduc misses with a straight right. Leduc throws an overhand right that lands on Reynolds's shoulder, as Reynolds tries to avoid the shot. Reynolds tries for a takedown but Leduc sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Reynolds takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Reynolds misses with a wild body shot. Leduc drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Reynolds defends it well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leduc displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reynolds. Nice straight punches there by Reynolds. That was a close round but I would say that Spurt Reynolds will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ground and pound from Reynolds. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leduc is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Leduc is looking to get back to full guard here but Reynolds has managed to pass to side control instead. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leduc is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Reynolds throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Leduc wants to improve his position but Reynolds is controlling well.

Reynolds seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Reynolds working the head and body with strikes. Leduc keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Reynolds wants to pass the guard but Leduc is defending well. Reynolds drops an elbow to the side of Leduc's head. Leduc works his way to full guard. Good work. Reynolds preventing the sweep. Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Leduc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Leduc has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Reynolds has passed into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Reynolds throws a strike aimed at the side of Leduc's head but Leduc avoids it well. Reynolds tries for a kimura but Leduc is defending well. An elbow from Reynolds crashes against the mat.
Leduc is looking to reverse the position. Leduc is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Reynolds's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Leduc makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Leduc. Leduc pulls Reynolds in close to prevent any damage. Reynolds looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Reynolds here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Reynolds is looking to advance position but Leduc has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Leduc lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Reynolds hang on? Reynolds regains half guard. Leduc sitting and controlling from the half guard. Reynolds is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fight stays on the outside here - Reynolds looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Reynolds uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Leduc. Spurt Reynolds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice sprawl there from Leduc as Reynolds shoots in. Reynolds shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Leduc as he jumps to the side. The fighters circling - Leduc throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Reynolds looks for a takedown but Leduc sprawls well. Reynolds gets the takedown into side control. Leduc is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Leduc sneaks back into half guard. Reynolds seems to be working for a kimura but Leduc defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reynolds not landing any meaningful shots this time. Leduc is looking for a sweep. Reynolds is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Reynolds working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Leduc's thigh. Leduc counters though and makes it back to full guard. Leduc bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reynolds's guard. Reynolds utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Leduc got a little sloppy there for a moment and Reynolds has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leduc has managed to get both his arms back between Reynolds's legs - danger averted. Spurt Reynolds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
