Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steven Van Rooij!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frank shoots in for a takedown but Van Rooij shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Van Rooij stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Van Rooij wants it to stay on the feet.
Van Rooij tries to close the distance and clinch up but Frank swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Van Rooij is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Frank's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Frank kicks Van Rooij off and gets back to his feet.

Frank shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Frank was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Van Rooij drives through with a takedown into guard.

Frank seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Van Rooij for as long as he can get away with.

Van Rooij has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Frank can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Frank thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Frank stays in close to Van Rooij's body and controls the position.

Frank shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Van Rooij eats them both and turns towards Frank to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Van Rooij tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Frank is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Van Rooij can do to turn this around?
Frank fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Frank wants to improve his position but Van Rooij is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Rooij is looking to advance position but Frank won't allow it.

Frank wants to get back to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Frank tries to roll over but Van Rooij keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A close second round but Steven Van Rooij will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Van Rooij bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Van Rooij takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Van Rooij wants to control but Frank is keeping him busy.
Steven Van Rooij has got the better of the ground game so far.
Frank is trying to buck Van Rooij off.

Van Rooij goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Frank has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Van Rooij but great work by Frank.

Frank is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Van Rooij has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here as Frank stalls from top position.

Frank is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've been informed that Van Rooij has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Frank lands an elbow.
Frank will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Van Rooij is trying to improve his position.
Van Rooij is trying to escape the position but Frank is controlling the position.

Frank tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Frank has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Frank has an Americana. Van Rooij didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Frank is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Frank hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
