14 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kantaro Hoshino! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoshino misses with a double jab.
Hunt ducks under a wild hook from Hoshino. Hunt lands with a straight right. Hoshino didn't see that one coming. Hoshino misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hunt.
Hoshino misses with an uppercut. Hunt saw that one coming. Hunt throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Hoshino counters with a stiff right hand. Hunt scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hoshino fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hunt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hunt throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hoshino is looking for the big counter here. Hunt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hunt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hoshino checks the leg kick. A slapping body kick lands there for Hunt. Hunt seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hoshino counters with a straight right hand. Hoshino waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hunt. Hunt shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Hunt tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Hoshino throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hunt sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hunt lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoshino throws a looping overhand right but Hunt ducks down to avoid it. Hoshino bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hunt feints and then cracks Hoshino's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hoshino down. Hunt bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hunt tries to counter with a takedown but Hoshino is quick to defend against it. A solid leg kick lands there for Hunt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hunt lands with a right hand. Hunt scores with a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoshino lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hunt circles away quickly and effectively. Hunt throws a low kick but Hoshino moves out of range easily. Hunt avoids the body shot from Hoshino.
Hoshino tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Hunt looks to land a combination but Hoshino avoids it well. Hunt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hoshino lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Hoshino takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hunt lands a head shot. Hunt slips a straight right by Hoshino. Hunt slips a straight right by Hoshino. Kantaro Hoshino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hunt throws a nice inside leg kick. Hoshino throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hoshino fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunt lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Merik Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hunt takes a swing at Hoshino's ribcage but misses. Hoshino uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hunt. Hunt throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Hunt is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Hunt rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hoshino counters with a left to the body. Hoshino throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hunt avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hunt pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Hoshino swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hunt scores with a nice head shot. Hoshino misses with a straight left. Hoshino slips under a jab. Hoshino throws a big shot that misses. Hunt thuds a left hand into Hoshino's body. Hunt shoots and misses and Hoshino counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Merik Hunt dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Hoshino on the wrong end of a nice jab. Hunt gets tackled into the cage by Hoshino. Hoshino maintains the clinch. Hoshino lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hunt swings away with an uppercut that misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hoshino lands a hook that snaps the head of Hunt backwards. Hunt tries to work over Hoshino's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hunt is trying to break free. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hunt. Hoshino will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hunt up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. A short right from Hoshino. Hoshino scores with a nice hook to the head. Hoshino struggles to land a body shot inside as Hunt controls his hands.
Hoshino gets underhooks to prevent Hunt's takedown attempt.
Hoshino lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Hoshino lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hunt backwards.
Hunt is rocked! Nice body punch from Hoshino. Oh Hunt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hoshino lands a big right hand that drops Hunt! The killer instinct kicks in and Hoshino finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Hoshino!
