Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lucien Avery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Qoeu Xu!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery has closed the distance and engaged Xu in a clinch.
Xu wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Avery has him pressed against the cage.
Avery tries to pull guard but Xu won't allow it.
Xu manages to break the clinch.
Avery moves into the clinch.
Avery pulls Xu into guard.
Avery is trying to keep Xu in close.
Avery has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Xu off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Avery could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avery closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Avery lands an elbow just above Xu 's eye.
Xu wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Avery has him pressed against the cage.
Avery tries to break free but Xu pushes him back against the cage.
Avery pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Avery gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Avery tries to land knees in the clinch but Xu avoids the damage to the body.
Avery decides to pull guard.
Xu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Avery has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Xu has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Avery wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Xu tries to break free but Avery pushes him back against the cage.
Avery breaks the clinch.
Avery rushes Xu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Avery manages to break the clinch.
Avery doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Xu counters with a head kick that wobbles Avery - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Xu sends him down. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Qoeu Xu!
