Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anistavio Sousa! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johnson rushes Sousa and presses him up against the cage. Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson instigates a clinch. Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sousa blocks a head kick by Johnson.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Johnson forces Sousa back against the cage and clinches. Sousa manages to break the clinch.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
As Johnson backs off Sousa throws a huge counter combo but Johnson manages to avoid it all. Johnson tries to clinch there but Sousa circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson throws a head kick that misses. Sousa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. A head kick from Johnson lands but Sousa takes it in his stride. Johnson lands a big head kick that sends Sousa tumbling to the mat! Johnson takes a step backwards and waves Sousa back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Sousa is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sousa blocks a head kick by Johnson.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crunch! Johnson slams his shin into Sousa's torso. Johnson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Sousa counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard. Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position. Johnson is breathing heavily. Sousa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sousa on the ground. Sousa is pushing down on Johnson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Johnson is fighting to maintain full guard but Sousa has managed to sneak the leg through. Sousa passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Johnson! Sousa controlling the pace for now. Sousa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sousa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.
Johnson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Sousa locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Johnson is forced to tap!
