Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between JJ Sutton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Theodore Malenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Theodore Malenko is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, JJ Sutton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Theodore Malenko!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sutton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Malenko tries to clinch up.
Malenko swats away the attempt to clinch by Sutton.
Sutton has a takedown stuffed.

Sutton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Malenko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sutton decides to stand back up. Sutton steps back and let's Malenko get back to his feet.

and Sutton counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Malenko!
Sutton wants to control the pace but Malenko is squirming around nicely.

Sutton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Malenko has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Malenko!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sutton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Malenko manages to get himself to full guard.

Malenko manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Malenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sutton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Malenko counters with a series of strikes. Sutton will be more careful next time no doubt.

Sutton tries to pull guard but Malenko won't allow it.

Malenko wants the takedown. Sutton is fighting it off but Malenko persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Sutton's guard against the cage.

Malenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Malenko is looking to stand up but Sutton won't let him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sutton keeps the fight on the outside.
Malenko is looking to clinch.

Malenko forces Sutton back against the cage and clinches.

Sutton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Malenko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sutton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Sutton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Malenko counters by moving into the clinch.

Sutton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Malenko fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Sutton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sutton.

Sutton has gone for a leg lock! Malenko slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sutton's guard.

Sutton throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Malenko escapes and throws Sutton's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sutton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Malenko asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Malenko stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Malenko takes the fight into the clinch.
Sutton tries to score a body lock takedown but Malenko shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Sutton has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Malenko is trying to keep an underhook but Sutton manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sutton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Malenko is just riding it out for now. Sutton eventually gives up the hold.
Sutton wants to control but Malenko is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that JJ Sutton will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Sutton is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Malenko is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
