1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Santos! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castillo forces Santos back against the cage and clinches. Santos works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Santos is in close to Castillo's body, working some short punches and elbows. Castillo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Santos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Santos pushing down on Castillo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Santos is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Castillo is concentrating on defense, preventing Santos from advancing position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santos is nestled in close to Castillo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Castillo trying to hold on to Santos's head to control him but Santos postures up.
Santos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Castillo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Castillo tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Castillo wants to control but Santos is keeping busy and won't allow it. Castillo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santos lands strikes from half guard. Castillo is looking to control Santos's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Castillo avoid being mounted? Santos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Castillo is just riding it out for now. Santos eventually gives up the hold. Santos is looking for a kimura here.

Santos postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Castillo looks a forlorn figure.
Santos is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Santos extends the arm and Castillo is forced to tap!
