Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcelino Holland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mizzieko Bestro! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holland gets in close and instigates a clinch. Bestro should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Holland wants to break the clinch but can't.
Holland gets control of Bestro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Holland will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bestro drops back, looking for a kneebar! Holland looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Holland looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Holland!
Holland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Holland landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Holland wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bestro, who protects the arm well. Bestro is pushing Holland's head away, looking to escape. Holland manages to hold on to the position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holland working the head with strikes. Bestro tries to escape but Holland is in control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holland scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bestro to see if he's OK. Bestro wants to get back to his feet but Holland drags him back down. Bestro taking punishment in the form of punches.
Holland goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bestro has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Holland but great work by Bestro. Holland is trying to control Bestro's posture but Bestro avoids it. Bestro tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bestro has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Holland is holding Bestro down, trying to stall. Bestro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Holland, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bestro is working to tighten his grip on Holland's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Holland has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bestro is really squeezing tight and eventually Holland passes out! Bestro breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
