Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelly Heath! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hulk Smash! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smash is defended easily by Heath. Smash misses with a few strikes there.
Heath wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Smash misses with a jab, cross combination.
An attempted straight right counter from Heath misses the target. Smash fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Heath chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Smash can pounce on him.
Heath keeps the fight on the outside. Heath looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Smash darts in and clinches Heath up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Heath is trying to break free. Heath managing to block the knees to the body from Smash.
Smash has Heath pressed against the cage, preventing Heath from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Heath tries to work over Smash's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Heath pulls guard successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smash tries to free his leg and advance position but Heath is retaining full guard. Heath wants to stand up but Smash is controlling him. Heath knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smash on the ground. Smash wants to control from the top but Heath keeps moving. Heath has a closed guard, preventing Smash from standing up. Smash trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Heath looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Heath has closed the distance and engaged Smash in a clinch.
Smash tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kelly Heath has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hulk Smash. Smash pulls guard successfully.
Heath scoring with some ground and pound. Heath is fighting to break Smash's control of his arms but Smash is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Smash looking to hit a scissor sweep but Heath is one step ahead there. Smash has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heath can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Smash is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Smash successfully pulls guard.
Heath postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Heath postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smash is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Heath, into his guard. Smash missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Smash trying to control the position from guard on top but Heath is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smash throws a big right hand that misses. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Heath wants to stand but Smash is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hulk Smash dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Heath wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Heath throws an elbow that misses.
Heath tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Smash jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Heath walks away with a smile on his face. Smash gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Heath gets in close and instigates a clinch. Heath prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smash is looking to take this one to the mat. Kelly Heath has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hulk Smash. Smash stalling in the clinch.

Smash tries to throw a body punch but Heath avoids it by throwing Smash back against the cage. Smash is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Heath tries to pull guard but Smash holds him up against the cage and eventually Heath drops back down to his feet.
Smash pulls guard. Heath in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Heath throws a strike but Smash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Smash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Smash won't allow Heath to get back to his feet. Heath lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Hulk Smash has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smash is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Heath stopping the sweep attempt from Smash. Smash doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Heath has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Heath throws a big elbow that misses. Smash looking for a triangle here. Heath is fighting it but it looks tight! Smash pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Heath is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Hulk Smash!
