PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lance Graham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woulfgang Schreder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woulfgang Schreder is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lance Graham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Woulfgang Schreder!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graham tries for a takedown but Schreder circles away easily

and Schreder counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schreder.
Schreder is working for takedown but Graham is calmly controlling the position for now.
Schreder changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Graham fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Graham fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schreder closes this distance looking for a takedown but Graham circles away.
Lance Graham has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Woulfgang Schreder.
Graham dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Graham shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Graham was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schreder is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Graham tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Graham wants to control but Schreder is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Graham stands up and beckons Schreder to his feet.

Graham shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Schreder is trying to defend but Graham finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Graham landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Graham thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Schreder's head.
Schreder told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schreder can do anything to dispel that myth.

Graham wants to stand but Schreder has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Graham is trying to control. Schreder wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Graham has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Graham thows a huge punch but Schreder dodges it nicely.
Graham working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Graham wants to take a breather but Schreder is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Graham shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schreder as he jumps to the side.
Graham shoots for a double leg takedown but Schreder sprawls well. He's pushed Graham's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Graham shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Schreder decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Graham's guard.
Graham is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schreder scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Schreder postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Schreder trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Graham dominated that round.
That's time! Graham's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Schreder will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Graham shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Schreder counters by clinching up.

Schreder turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Lance Graham overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Graham sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Graham lands a nice short elbow.

Graham postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Schreder to stand up.
Graham is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schreder can do to turn this around?

and Schreder counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schreder.
Graham has had enough of the clinch but Schreder keeps him there for the moment.
Schreder is pressed up against the cage. Graham has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schreder down to the mat. Schreder avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Graham is rocked!

Woulfgang Schreder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Schreder closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Graham quickly recovers to half guard.
Graham moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Schreder throws an elbow that misses. Graham uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schreder's guard. Nice move by Graham!

Schreder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Schreder lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Graham is on top in guard.

Schreder takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Graham stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Graham really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Schreder shoots in for a double leg but Graham sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Graham darts in looking for a takedown but Schreder gets double underhooks and turns Graham into the cage.
Schreder changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Schreder shoots in looking for a takedown. Graham tries to sprawl out of it but Schreder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Graham manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Graham tries to counter by clinching up but Schreder breaks away and moves out of range.

Graham shoots in and bounces Schreder off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Schreder changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Graham tries to avoid it but Schreder manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Graham to the ground. Graham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

I think Graham has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
