The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen feints and as Griffith raises his hands in defense, Nielsen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nielsen stays in close to Griffith's body and controls the position.
Nielsen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Nielsen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Griffith's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffith trying to control but Nielsen postures up.
Nielsen seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Nielsen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Griffith's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nielsen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Griffith on his heels. He'll look to pass Griffith's guard now, I'm sure.
Griffith wants to sweep here but Nielsen controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nielsen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Griffith prevents Nielsen from moving into mount.
Griffith manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Griffith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nielsen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nielsen's back!

and Nielsen counters with a shoot takedown. Griffith fights it but they end up in guard.

Griffith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nielsen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nielsen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nielsen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Griffith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Nielsen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nielsen is looking to control Griffith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nielsen avoid being mounted?
Nielsen is not content to let Griffith control the position.
