Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Trevor Rex! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Drama! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drama moves into the clinch successfully.
Rex drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Drama gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rex tries to score a body lock takedown but Drama shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Rex has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Drama is trying to keep an underhook but Rex manages to get the takedown into half guard. Drama moves into full guard.
Rex is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Drama controls Rex momentarily but Rex frees himself. Drama is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rex is controlling him. Drama throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Drama is looking for a triangle but Rex pushes his legs off easily.
Rex postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Drama has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rex can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rex throws a front kick aimed at Drama's knee but Drama avoids it well. Excellent takedown into side control there by Rex. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drama is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rex off and has taken his back! Drama has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Drama looks gassed! Drama has the hooks in. Rex is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Rex is working hard here to advance position. Rex manages to reverse the position and now he's in Drama's guard. Nice work there by Rex.
Rex wants to control from the top but Drama keeps moving. Rex drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rex jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nice sprawl there from Drama as Rex shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rex shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Drama as he jumps to the side. Rex shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Drama as he jumps to the side. Drama gets a clinch. Drama prevents a takedown attempt there.

Rex darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Drama pushes Rex off and gets back to his feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rex. Drama tries to bum rush Rex with a series of wild strikes but Rex uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rex fails to land the takedown. Rex shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Drama pinned against the cage. Drama gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Drama forces Rex back against the cage and clinches. Rex could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rex tries to pull guard but Drama won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rex shoots for a double leg takedown but Drama sprawls well. He's pushed Rex's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rex drives through with a takedown into guard. Drama has a closed guard, preventing Rex from standing up. Rex wants to pass the guard but Drama is keeping the position. Rex trying to control the position from guard on top but Drama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Drama escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rex gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rex is working Drama over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rex pushes down on Drama's leg and manages to get into half guard. Drama tries to roll over but Rex keeps him under control. Rex not landing any meaningful shots this time. Drama is looking for a sweep. Rex is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rex sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Drama defending well though. Rex is trying to control the action in half guard but Drama is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rex is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Drama is just riding it out for now. Rex eventually gives up the hold. Drama manages to get to full guard.

Drama works his way to full guard. Good work. Trevor Rex overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Drama utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Horrible takedown by Rex or perhaps it was just good defense by Drama which made him look bad. Rex blocks a head kick by Drama.

Rex shoots in but Drama avoids the takedown attempt easily. Drama closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Drama lands in his opponent's guard. Rex wants to sweep but no luck. Rex controls Drama momentarily but Drama frees himself. Rex throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

The fighters roll with the hold and Rex manages to kick Drama off! Drama jumps back into Rex's guard. Rex is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Drama wants to control from the top but Rex keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rex is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rex seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Drama does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rex is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Drama is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Drama is looking for a sweep. Rex is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rex works his way into side control. Rex wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drama keeps working. An elbow from Rex crashes against the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rex misses with a few strikes there.
Rex tries for a takedown but Drama circles away easily and Drama counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rex won't be happy with that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rex is looking to regain half guard here but Drama keeps moving and retains side control. Rex sneaks back into half guard. Drama trying to control the action but Rex is working from the bottom. Rex makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rex. Drama must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Drama tries to free his leg and advance position but Rex is retaining full guard. Rex looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trevor Rex. I think Rex has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
