PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorjo Kozacz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorjo Kozacz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Boyka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorjo Kozacz!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyka tries to close the distance and clinch but Kozacz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boyka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kozacz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boyka tries to clinch up but Kozacz circles away and keeps his distance.
And Kozacz tries to counter it with a takedown but Boyka pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Kozacz drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Boyka defends it well.

Boyka moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kozacz is looking to control Boyka's arms but Boyka gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kozacz has his back to the cage.

No joy there for Boyka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kozacz drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Boyka defends it well.

Boyka darts in and clinches Kozacz up against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Boyka.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Boyka as Kozacz tries to tie him up.
Boyka throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kozacz blocks it with crossed arms.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boyka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kozacz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Boyka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Kozacz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Boyka won't be happy with that.

Kozacz has hold of Boyka's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Boyka seems comfortable defending it but Kozacz has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Boyka is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Boyka is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kozacz couldn't care less - he's delighted!
