Makaaja comes to the cage accompanied by BassLovers United - I Can't Dance. Mitchell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Voices- Rev Theory kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell throws a series of punches but Makaaja moves out of range.
Makaaja changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Makaaja.
James Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makaaja walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mitchell.
Mitchell throws a right hand that Makaaja ducks under and follows up with a left that Makaaja also avoids with ease.
Makaaja uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mitchell.
Makaaja avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mitchell looks to land a combination but Makaaja avoids it well.
Makaaja is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mitchell scores with a takedown into Makaaja's guard.
Mitchell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Makaaja's guard.

Makaaja is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mitchell pulls his head out easily.
My spies in Team Alpha Male inform me that Mitchell has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Mitchell is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Makaaja has managed to free his arm - good work.

Makaaja has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mitchell is working away from the top position though.

Makaaja trying to control the position from guard on top but Mitchell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Mitchell wants to reverse the position here. Makaaja has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Mitchell is forced to tap! Mitchell looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
