The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Alvarado shoots in and bounces Baring off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Alvarado stands up over Baring, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Alvarado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alvarado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baring is striking but Alvarado is not phased and passes to half guard.

Baring tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Alvarado has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Alvarado lands a couple of good shots and Baring has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Alvarado has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Alvarado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Baring is trying to stand back up.

I would not like to be Baring right now.
Alvarado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Baring trying to control the position but Alvarado manages to sink in the hooks.
Baring is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
