Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Leslie Saunders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Harrison! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harrison changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Saunders looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saunders tries to buck Harrison off but Harrison is having none of it. Saunders manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Saunders trying to control here.
Saunders is looking for a sweep. Harrison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Harrison keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Harrison not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Saunders tries to roll over but Harrison keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saunders keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison is trying to work for a kimura but Saunders is defending well.
Saunders is controlling Harrison's trapped leg to prevent Harrison from advancing to side control. Harrison is looking to stall here but Saunders recovers full guard. Harrison wants to control from the top but Saunders keeps moving. Saunders controlling Harrison's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Harrison closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saunders wants to improve his position but Harrison is controlling well.
Harrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saunders keeps working. Harrison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Saunders doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harrison. Saunders wants to control but Harrison is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saunders tries to get to full guard but Harrison has control of the leg. Harrison is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Harrison is thwarting Saunders's attempts to control the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Saunders tries to roll over but Harrison keeps him under control. Harrison trying to mount his opponent but Saunders defends it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Harrison wants to get back to his feet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Harrison closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Saunders's guard. Harrison working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Saunders's head. Harrison stopping the sweep attempt from Saunders. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Saunders has a closed guard, preventing Harrison from standing up. Harrison pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saunders is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Harrison dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Harrison drives through with a takedown into guard. Harrison must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Harrison trying to control but Saunders is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saunders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Saunders is on top in guard.
Saunders content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Saunders is looking to stand up but Harrison won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saunders controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Harrison looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Saunders has picked Harrison up and slammed him! Harrison can't keep hold of the triangle and Saunders manages to pass to side control! Harrison bucks up and tries to throw Saunders off but instead Saunders has got his back! Saunders biding his time, controlling Harrison.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saunders has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Harrison is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. A bit of a pause in the action here. Saunders controlling the positon.
That's three minutes gone in the round. This is a sustained period of stalling by Saunders. Harrison can't escape the position.
Harrison is trying to stand back up. Saunders is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Saunders's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Harrison drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Harrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Saunders is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Saunders is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Harrison lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Harrison gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Saunders controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Saunders wants to stand but Harrison is controlling his posture from full guard. Saunders is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harrison looking for a sweep. Not yet Harrison, not yet. Saunders wants to stand but Harrison is controlling his posture from full guard. Saunders is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Harrison closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Saunders quickly recovers to half guard. Saunders trying to control here.
Saunders is not content to let Harrison control the position. Saunders is pressing down on Harrison's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Harrison wants to control from the top but Saunders keeps moving. Saunders controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Robert Harrison. Well Harrison has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
