0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Detritus What! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marsh is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Marsh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Marsh clinches. Marsh wants to break the clinch but can't.
Marsh has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. What is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Marsh looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Marsh wants to break free but What has control.

What breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. What looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. It looked like Marsh was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Marsh fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
What closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. What jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marsh walks away with a smile on his face. What gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nice sprawl there from Marsh as What shoots in. Deon Marsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Detritus What. What shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marsh as he avoids it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from What. Marsh throws a big counter combination but What scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. What looks winded! Marsh rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but What moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. What is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marsh sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. What throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marsh. Marsh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. What doesn't seem bothered though. Marsh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Marsh tries to close the distance and clinch up but What swats him away and circles back towards the center. A slapping leg kick lands for Marsh.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Marsh breaks the clinch.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! What slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Marsh looking to hit a scissor sweep but What is one step ahead there. Marsh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Marsh was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Detritus What seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marsh gets a clinch. What is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Marsh to keep the fight standing. Marsh blocks a body shot from What. Marsh is trying to push What away but What has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Marsh wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but What has him pressed against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marsh manages to break the clinch.

Detritus What has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Deon Marsh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. What shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marsh but Marsh pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Deon Marsh. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
