Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dana Richard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Stever (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Travis Stever will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dana Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Stever!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stever lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Richard backs up against the cage.


It looks like Dana Richard has been cut.
Stever works over Richard's head and body with a nice combination.

Richard gets tackled into the cage by Stever. Stever maintains the clinch.

Stever jumps into guard, dragging Richard to the mat.
Richard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stever wants to stand up but Richard is controlling him.
Stever is wriggling around but Richard manages to pass to half guard.
Stever works his way to full guard. Good work.
Stever avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Richard throws a big right hand that misses.
Richard wants to control from the top but Stever keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stever is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richard is controlling him.
Richard throws a strike but Stever rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Richard throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Stever throwing strikes from guard but Richard blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richard wriggles free and stands up.
Stever misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stever stalks Richard and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Richard's face. Richard staggers backwards, shaken.

Stever moves into the clinch.

Stever manages to pull guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Richard stays in close to Stever's body and controls the position.
Richard postures up.
Richard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stever is pulling down on Richard's head to control his posture.
Richard trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Stever has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Richard is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stever.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stever is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Richard is controlling him well.
Richard is putting a hurting on Stever here, landing some big shots from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Richard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Richard is working Stever over with some ground and pound from side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Richard is trying to get an arm triangle but Stever is defending well.
Stever is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Richard has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Stever can't do much from the bottom here.
Richard really is a fat lump.
Stever pushes Richard away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Richard gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Stever keeps Richard under control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stever is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Richard connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stever some visible discomfort.
Stever is trying to get back to half guard.
Stever wants to get back to his feet but Richard drags him back down.
Stever looks winded!
Stever can't do much from the bottom here.
Stever tries to buck Richard off but Richard is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis Stever dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dana Richard's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Stever shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Stever wants to stand and escape but instead Richard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Stever looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Richard wants to control from the top but Stever keeps moving.
Stever really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Richard distracts Stever with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stever is trying to keep Richard in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richard is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stever wants to sweep here but Richard controlling him for the moment.

Stever is looking to sweep but instead, Richard has passed into half guard.

Richard in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Stever tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Richard!
