Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benton MacKaye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Joseph Edgar has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joseph Edgar seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joseph Edgar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benton MacKaye! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Edgar. No joy for MacKaye on that attempt. Edgar was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from MacKaye. MacKaye throws a hook but Edgar blocks it. MacKaye misses with a kick to the body.
Edgar appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. MacKaye throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
MacKaye thows a leg kick but Edgar checks it enabling Edgar to counter with a crisp jab. Benton MacKaye seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. MacKaye fails to land the takedown. An attempted straight right counter from Edgar misses the target. Joseph Edgar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benton MacKaye. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Edgar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from MacKaye. A quick step to the side and Edgar tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Edgar has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. MacKaye uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Edgar. Edgar lands a glancing blow to the side of MacKaye's head. Edgar thows a left - swing and a miss! MacKaye does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Edgar throwing a counter right hand but MacKaye manages to avoid it. Edgar misses with a straight right. MacKaye has his takedown stuffed and Edgar counters with a lovely straight right hand! Edgar throws a hook to the side of MacKaye's head but MacKaye sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. MacKaye moves in looking to clinch but Edgar pushes him off. MacKaye fails with the takedown.

MacKaye tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Edgar defends well and MacKaye ends up having to push Edgar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. MacKaye steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Edgar. MacKaye bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Edgar throws a looping overhand right but MacKaye ducks down to avoid it. Edgar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but MacKaye circles away quickly and effectively. MacKaye tries to close the distance and clinch but Edgar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Edgar was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A telegraphed right hand from Edgar misses the target. Edgar slips a straight right by MacKaye. MacKaye closes the distance and clinches up with Edgar, looking for a takedown. MacKaye pushes Edgar against the cage but Edgar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Edgar swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Edgar sprawls well. A counter left hand to the body from Edgar misses its target. Edgar lands a right hook to the body.

Edgar is looking to counter punch. MacKaye tries to clinch up. It looked like Edgar was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from MacKaye. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. MacKaye pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Edgar takes a swing at MacKaye's ribcage but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

MacKaye throws a leg kick but Edgar sees it coming and checks it nicely. MacKaye shoots in looking for a takedown. Edgar tries to sprawl out of it but MacKaye keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Edgar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. MacKaye shoots in for a double leg but Edgar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. MacKaye clinches up with Edgar and pushes him back against the cage. Edgar prevents a body shot from MacKaye. MacKaye has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Edgar clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. MacKaye misses with punches from the back. Edgar is really stuck here.

That's one minute gone in the round. MacKaye throws strikes from the back but Edgar rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Edgar. MacKaye throws a big elbow that misses. Edgar keeping moving, preventing MacKaye from controlling successfully. MacKaye is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. MacKaye postures up in Edgar's guard and throws a big left but Edgar blocks it. Edgar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that MacKaye can do to turn this around? Edgar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Edgar working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from MacKaye. MacKaye stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Edgar swivels though and keeps the full guard. Edgar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. MacKaye drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and MacKaye jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - MacKaye looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A clash of legs there as Edgar blocks the low kick.

Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
