PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Musa Khamanaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ardian Kurniawan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khamanaev comes into the arena with A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera – Say Something remix blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Musa Khamanaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ardian Kurniawan!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kurniawan.
Kurniawan shoots in but no luck this time.
Ardian Kurniawan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khamanaev has a takedown stuffed.
A jab from Khamanaev does it's job there.
Khamanaev throws a leg kick but Kurniawan moved away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kurniawan is looking to take a break and control but Khamanaev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Khamanaev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Kurniawan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kurniawan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Khamanaev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Khamanaev wants to clinch up but Kurniawan keeps it at a distance.
Khamanaev closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kurniawan circles away.
Kurniawan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khamanaev tries to avoid it but Kurniawan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khamanaev to the ground. Khamanaev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Khamanaev is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Kurniawan still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Kurniawan has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Khamanaev is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Kurniawan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Khamanaev is looking for the choke from the back position but Kurniawan is controlling his hands well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Musa Khamanaev will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kurniawan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khamanaev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kurniawan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Khamanaev rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kurniawan's guard! Nice work there by Khamanaev!

Kurniawan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Khamanaev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Khamanaev swings around for an armbar but Kurniawan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Khamanaev's guard.

Khamanaev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kurniawan defends well.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kurniawan has gone for a leg lock! Khamanaev slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kurniawan's guard.

Musa Khamanaev showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Khamanaev has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
