Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Davidson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nikolai Bemevczech! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bemevczech throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Davidson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bemevczech did well to prevent Davidson getting side control. Bemevczech trying to hold on to Davidson's head to control him but Davidson postures up.
Davidson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bemevczech defends it well. Davidson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Davidson stands up and beckons Bemevczech to join him on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bemevczech throws out a powerful jab. The fight stays on the outside here - Bemevczech looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bemevczech throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Davidson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bemevczech moves away. Davidson misses with a series of wild punches.
Bemevczech throws a shot from downtown. Davidson moves away and avoids it. Bemevczech throws out a powerful jab. Bemevczech throws the left hand but Davidson avoids the punch easily.

Nikolai Bemevczech is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bemevczech misses with a wild body shot. Bemevczech keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Bemevczech misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Davidson feints and as Bemevczech raises his hands in defense, Davidson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bemevczech is looking to stand up but Davidson isn't so interested in that idea. Davidson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Bemevczech throws a jab when Davidson was well out of range. Bemevczech tries to clinch there but Davidson circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bemevczech moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Davidson misses with a few strikes there.
Davidson has been working on his balance at Werewolf's cave, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Bemevczech. Donk. Davidson catches Bemevczech right on the button with a cross. Bemevczech tries to keep at a distance but Davidson has taken the fight into the clinch. Davidson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bemevczech pulls his leg out and moves away.

Bemevczech defending well as Davidson loads up on a big left hand. Bemevczech tries to clinch up. Bemevczech wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Bemevczech looks to score with a jab to the body but Davidson is just out of range.

and Davidson counters with a takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Davidson working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Davidson trying to control the action but Bemevczech is working from the bottom. Davidson working the head with strikes. Bemevczech is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Bemevczech pushes Davidson off looking to stand but Davidson dives back in and keeps control.
Davidson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Davidson trying to control the action but Bemevczech is working from the bottom. Davidson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Davidson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A slow jab from Bemevczech misses its intended target. Davidson is looking to counter punch. Davidson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Davidson throws a punch but it's blocked by Bemevczech. Davidson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bemevczech after a bit of a struggle. A nice right hand lands inside from Bemevczech. Davidson wants a takedown.
Davidson wants to take the fight to the mat but Bemevczech manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Davidson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davidson is looking for a takedown. Davidson gets control of Bemevczech's arms and successfully pulls guard. Davidson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bemevczech must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Davidson keeping full guard, as Bemevczech tries to pass. Davidson has control of Bemevczech's left arm, preventing Bemevczech from doing any damage. Bemevczech throws a strike but Davidson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Bemevczech keeping moving, preventing Davidson from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bemevczech is looking to stand up but Davidson isn't so interested in that idea. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Some wild striking there from Bemevczech.
Bemevczech ducks under a wild hook from Davidson. Nikolai Bemevczech is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bemevczech ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Davidson moves away. Davidson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Davidson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Davidson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Davidson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bemevczech can do to turn this around?

The referee takes a look at Bemevczech to see if he's OK. Davidson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Davidson misses with the ground and pound. Davidson lands a nice forearm strike. Davidson is putting a hurting on Bemevczech here, landing some big shots from side control. Davidson throws a strike aimed at the side of Bemevczech's head but Bemevczech avoids it well. Bemevczech tries to improve position but can't. Davidson is staying tight to Bemevczech's torso, preventing him from escaping. Davidson is looking to take a break and control but Bemevczech is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here as Davidson stalls from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bemevczech taking a bit of punishment here - Davidson scoring with strikes. The ground and pound from Davidson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bemevczech is looking to reverse the position. Bemevczech really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davidson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davidson tries for a kimura but Bemevczech is defending well. Davidson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bemevczech circles away quickly and effectively. Bemevczech tries to clinch but Davidson is having none of it. Davidson tries to counter by clinching up but Bemevczech breaks away and moves out of range. Bemevczech lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Davidson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bemevczech is fending him off so far but Davidson persists. Nope, Bemevczech circles away and we're back to standing. Davidson misses with a looping right. Bemevczech swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Davidson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bemevczech. Bemevczech lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Davidson shoots in and bounces Bemevczech off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bemevczech is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bemevczech can't keep his opponent in guard - Davidson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Bemevczech is looking for a sweep. Davidson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bemevczech pushes Davidson off but Davidson dives into side control.
Davidson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bemevczech knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Davidson working the ground and pound. Bemevczech tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Davidson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Davidson landing strikes. Davidson wants to control but Bemevczech is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bemevczech struggling a bit here. Davidson immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Bemevczech is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Davidson!
