Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jay Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lars Eriksson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into Eriksson's guard. Eriksson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Evans trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Evans is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Evans's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Evans wants to stand but Eriksson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evans postures up and lands a big shot to Eriksson's brow. Evans stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eriksson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Evans looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Evans will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eriksson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Eriksson working a defensive guard here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Eriksson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evans paws at him with a jab and circles away. Evans is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Eriksson throws a series of strikes that have Evans backpedaling.
It looks like Jay Evans has been cut. Eriksson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Eriksson misses with a lunging right hand
and Evans counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Eriksson is pressing down on Evans's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Evans is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Eriksson is retaining full guard. Evans showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Evans throws a big right hand that misses. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eriksson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Evans doesn't manage to clinch there - Eriksson circles away.
Evans takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Eriksson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Eriksson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Eriksson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Evans. Eriksson throws a jab when Evans was well out of range. Evans tries to counter with a takedown but Eriksson is quick to defend against it. Evans closes the distance and pushes Eriksson back into the cage. Evans jumps guard but Eriksson stands there with Evans around his waist. Evans gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Evans is breathing heavily. Eriksson is pressed up against the cage. Evans has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Eriksson down to the mat. Eriksson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. An inside leg kick lands from Eriksson. Eriksson throws a head kick that misses. Eriksson moves into the clinch successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. With the fighters up against the cage, Eriksson throws an elbow but misses. Evans decides to pull guard. Evans on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Evans tries to get out of the position. Eriksson trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Eriksson throws a big right hand that misses. Eriksson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Evans keeping moving, preventing Eriksson from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Eriksson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Eriksson throwing strikes from guard but Evans blocks nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lars Eriksson will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jay Evans's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Eriksson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Eriksson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Evans avoids the head kick by Eriksson.
Eriksson cracks the inside of Evans's front leg. Evans will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Eriksson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Eriksson throws a right and a left that both miss. A punch combination from Eriksson misses. Evans drops down looking for a counter takedown but Eriksson sprawls and moves away. Eriksson misses with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evans lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Evans. Evans takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Eriksson fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Eriksson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Evans.
It looked like Evans was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Evans tries a head kick but it misses.
Eriksson is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Eriksson misses with a hook. Evans ducked under it nicely. Evans shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Eriksson connects with a jab.
Evans is rocked! Eriksson misses with the combination.
Eriksson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Eriksson scores with a one two! Evans had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Oh Evans is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Eriksson drops Evans with a naaaaasty hook - Evans is in real trouble here! Eriksson dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
