Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ville Marakatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psycho Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marakatti comes to the cage accompanied by Beyoncé - Halo. The crowd seem to be enjoying Russell's choice of entrance music: Encore Jay z and Lincoln Park. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ville Marakatti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Psycho Russell!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Marakatti was well out of range. Poor timing from Russell.
Marakatti shoots in for a takedown but Russell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Russell looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Russell throws a right and a left that Marakatti avoids nicely.
Russell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We've been hearing reports that Marakatti has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Russell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Russell has closed the distance and engaged Marakatti in a clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Ville Marakatti will probably get the nod.

Russell drives through and clinches with Marakatti against the cage.
Russell's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Russell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Marakatti is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Russell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Russell's back!

Marakatti is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Russell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Russell shrugs it off.

Marakatti lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Russell is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Russell tries to lock up and control but Marakatti gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Marakatti is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Russell can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Russell wants to control but Marakatti is having none of it.

A close second round but Psycho Russell will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Russell paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Russell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Russell throws a good cross that connects.
Russell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Horrible takedown attempt by Marakatti or perhaps it was just good defense by Russell, which made it look bad.
Russell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Marakatti stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Russell drops Marakatti with a beautiful combination! Marakatti stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Russell is looking for the KO!


Marakatti is rocked!


It looks like Ville Marakatti has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Russell stuffs the takedown attempt from Marakatti. Marakatti gets slowly back to his feet.
Oh Marakatti is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Russell moves into range and connects with a jab.

Some wild striking there from Russell.
Marakatti seems to have got his legs back now.
Russell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marakatti has time to react.
Russell tests Marakatti's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Psycho Russell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Russell swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Marakatti.
Marakatti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Russell pinned against the cage. Russell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ville Marakatti. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Russell tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Russell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Russell lands with an overhand left.
Marakatti takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Russell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Marakatti walks into a left hand.

Russell lands a big uppercut and Marakatti crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Marakatti looks OK. Russell waves Marakatti back to his feet!
Russell lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Marakatti - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Russell!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Psycho Russell!
In his post fight interview, Psycho Russell started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
