Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike McGuire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike King!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by King.
King has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
King lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Mike McGuire has been cut.
King fails in his attempt to clinch.
King tries to clinch but McGuire moves out of range.
McGuire throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McGuire drops down looking for a counter takedown but King sprawls and moves away.
Mike King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGuire swings around for an armbar but King sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McGuire's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McGuire cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

King is trapped and McGuire is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGuire lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Oooh a big shot gets through from McGuire. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

McGuire looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
McGuire has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McGuire lands a nice short elbow.

King tries to close the distance and clinch but McGuire swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

King throws a left that rocks McGuire and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! King dives into side control, looking to finish! Can McGuire regain composure!

King wants to stand but McGuire is controlling his arm.

King wants to get up but he can't break McGuire's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

King lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends McGuire sprawling to the canvas. King follows him down, looking for the kill. Can McGuire hang on?

McGuire is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


King is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McGuire pulls his head out easily.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McGuire perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mike King.
I think McGuire has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
